Father Convicted Of Making False Statement To FBI During Search For Ex-LAPD Officer
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The father of a former LAPD officer suspected in a fatal shooting in Pomona has been found guilty of providing a false statement to the FBI.
Victor Solis, 53, of Lancaster was convicted in Texas Thursday of making a false statement to El Paso FBI agents concerning the search for his son Henry Solis.
"Testimony presented during trial revealed that on March 16, 2015, Victor Solis willfully attempted to prevent law enforcement from locating Henry Solis by representing to FBI agents that he, alone, crossed into Mexico on March 14, 2015," a statement posted to the United States Department Of Justice indicated.
The elder Solis is currently being held on bond.
He is expected to be sentenced Aug. 20 and faces up to five years in federal prison and a maximum fine of $250,000, the statement said.
His son is accused in the shooting death of Salome Rodriguez, 23, outside a nightclub in downtown Pomona on March 13.
The younger Solis was extradited from Mexico and was booked Thursday at the Pomona jail to face charges in the shooting.
