Fatal Shooting Of 20-Year-Old Woman Marks San Bernardino's 40th Homicide This Year

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — A 20-year-old woman was found shot to death in her car in San Bernardino overnight marking the city's 40th homicide of the year.

On Thursday night, several church leaders and community members met with police in search of solutions to the staggering number of homicides.

Police say Jaemiah Trammel of Colton was shot to death in her car before crashing.

So far, no arrests have been made and the motive behind the killing remains unclear.

But residents in San Bernardino say this is just another example of the spike in deadly violence.

This time last year, the city had 16 homicides.

The city's Chief of Police, Jarrod Burguan, says he wants to add about 100 more officers to the current force of 220, but cautions police are just one part of the solution.

"And then let's come out with some real common sense, middle of the ground solutions that everyone can deal with and let's start to create a little bit of healing," said Burguan.
