Fatal Car Crash Cuts Power To 100 Moreno Valley Homes

MORENO VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — A woman was killed early Saturday when she slammed her vehicle into a power pole, causing a power outage for several Moreno Valley residents.

Deputies were called at 3:45 a.m. from the corner of Perris Boulevard and Bay Avenue, where the woman was trapped in the wreckage, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said.

The woman died at the scene. Authorities would release her name after her relatives had been notified.

Power was cut temporarily along Branch Street, one block west of the fatal crash. More than 100 homes were out of electricity as crews replaced lines and the pole, according to Southern California Edison.

Repairs should be complete by 10 p.m. Saturday, SCE reported.
