Family Of Severely Beaten WeHo Man Want Public's Help To Identify His Attackers

WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com)  —  The family of a West Hollywood man who was beaten by a group of men and left with a traumatic brain injury are asking the public to help identify his attackers.

Kirk Doffing, 45, remains in a medically-induced coma at Cedars-Sinai after the assault nine days ago.

The beating took place on May 24 around 9 p.m. Police said Doffing, an accountant, was attacked by four men, including one who punched him repeatedly in the face after an argument near an alley on San Vicente just north of Santa Monica Boulevard.

Doffing's sister Jackie Geisinger spoke Wednesday to CBS2's Laurie Perez.

"Today, we are putting fliers everywhere, in the bars and local businesses," Geisinger said.

She is hoping the fliers will jog people's memories.

"We basically had to do emergency surgery when he was brought in; his skull was literally shattered," the victim's sister said.

"If you saw these four guys dressed in black on a Sunday holiday weekend walking down the streets of West Hollywood, that's not normal , so anything, any recollection you have, that's what we're looking," she said.

Doffing arrived at the hospital without any license, credit cards or I.D. He was first admitted as a John Doe with a traumatic brain injury.

After identifying him, his family wants his attackers identified.

"We're looking for any public witnesses, any pictures, info, if you took a video, not knowing what you were videoing, I mean people do that today, please send it to the sheriff's office," Geisinger said.

A witness will work with a sketch artist.

The main suspect has been described as a man in his 20s, with a mustache, last seen wearing a dark trenchcoat.
