Families Of Seal Beach Mass Murder Victims Urge Plea Deal

SEAL BEACH (AP) — Families of some victims of a mass murder at a Southern California hair salon want prosecutors to accept a plea deal from the killer.

The Orange County Register reports that some relatives of the eight people killed by Scott Dekraai five years ago want authorities to accept his offer of life in prison instead of seeking the death penalty.

Paul Wilson, whose wife died in the Seal Beach attack, says the families are exhausted by lengthy legal proceedings and want to move on.

However, others speaking at Saturday's news conference say they still want Dekraai to face the death penalty.

The case has been disrupted by the illegal use of a jailhouse informant that prompted removal of the Orange County district attorney's office from the penalty phase.
