Famed Burbank Karaoke Bar Closing To Make Way For New Development

BURBANK (CBSLA.com) — Patrons of a famed Burbank karaoke bar prepared to belt out one last tune Saturday night before Dimples closed its doors to make way for a massive development.

The neighborhood haunt, located at 3413 West Olive Avenue, has seen the likes of Britney Spears, Jay Leno, Katy Perry and Charlize Theron, croon - not always on key - to pop hits.

But as a crowd packed the house to say their goodbyes, owner Sal Ferraro said no special events were planned. He plans to relocate the business within the next two months and wanted it to be just like any other Saturday night.

"It's bitter-sweet, naturally. I fell in love with this place and all my heart and hard work is into it, but I'm going to replace it someplace else, that's all, no problem" Ferraro, who opened Dimples in 1982, said.

The closing has been in the works for a while.

Burbank's City Council approved the Talaria Mixed Use Projec back in October.

The development will include a Whole Foods and luxury apartments on the land that currently houses the karaoke bar.
