Family Of Teen Killed In Commerce Crash Remembers Only Child

SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA.com) — Gigi Littlefield clutches a stuffed bear that belonged to her daughter, Michelle.

The 19-year old was one of three people killed in a Saturday morning crash on I-5 near Commerce.

The CHP says a car racing down the freeway crashed into a UPS truck that crushed a Nissan in which she was riding.

"With Michelle, I dedicated my life to her," her mother said. "Since she was born, she was never with nobody else besides me."

Michelle attended College of the Canyons with hopes of transferring to Cal Poly to study accounting.

Her parents say she and three friends spent Friday at Disneyland. All of them worked at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Michelle was supposed to come home to Santa Clarita Friday night but never made it.

Her father drove to the crash site to investigate. Once there, his reality went from worrisome to devastation.

"I asked them if she's clean enough for an open casket," William Littlefield said. "They said 'Maybe, but that will be between you and mortuary.' "

The Littlefields say they harbor no anger toward the person arrested in the crash investigation.

They're focusing on remembering their only child.

"Right now, I've got my captain's hat on," her father said. "Later, daddy's hat will come out. That's when I'm going to cry."
