Ex-Youth Soccer Coach Gets 130 Years For Molesting 15 Children
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A former American Youth Soccer Organization coach in Lancaster was sentenced Friday to more than 130 years in prison for molesting 15 children, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.
Renoir Vincent Valenti was also ordered to pay $450,000 in victim restitution. He will be registered as a sex offender.
Valenti was found guilty Feb. 27 of five felony counts of continuous child abuse, six misdemeanor counts of child molesting, four felony counts of lewd act upon a child, four felony counts of procuring and offering false or forged instrument, and one count of disobeying a court order.
Between 1995 and 2012, Valenti molested 14 boys, six of whom were soccer players he coached, and a young girl.
The victims' ages ranged from 8 to 12, said Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Hatami.
The investigation into Valenti began in July 2012 when the mother of a 10-year-old boy said her son was molested.
In a statement, AYSO said it was "gratified that justice has finally been delivered to a criminal who abused the trust of parents and children not only within our soccer communities, but outside of our communities as well. While the jury has spoken, no court action can ever undo the harm brought upon these children and their families. We extend our deepest sympathies to everyone who has been victimized by Mr. Valenti's criminal conduct."
