Ex-Sunday School Teacher Convicted Of Child Molestation

SANTA ANA (AP) — A former volunteer Sunday school teacher in Orange County has been convicted of molesting six boys.

Christopher McKenzie, 51, of Costa Mesa was found guilty Wednesday of 20 felony counts, including committing lewd acts on a child and possessing child pornography.

He could face 160 years to life in prison.

McKenzie was a swimming pool cleaner and a volunteer teacher at two churches in Costa Mesa and Newport Beach.

He was charged with molesting boys under 14 between 1996 and 2012.

Prosecutors tell City News Service that McKenzie met victims through the churches, through relatives and at his apartment complex.

Authorities say he paid some boys $50 to pose for nude photos, telling them the images would be used to model a sculpture.
