Ex-Attorney Gets 10 Years For Bilking LA Metro

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A disbarred attorney has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for stealing more than $3 million from his clients, including the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The district attorney's office says James Reiss was sentenced Wednesday in Los Angeles. He also was ordered to pay restitution to the Metro and another victim.

Prosecutors say Reiss received nearly $2 million in fraudulent reimbursements from the Metro while handling liability claims for the agency between 2010 and 2011.

He pleaded no contest to grand theft earlier this month.
