Escaped California Inmate Turns Himself In
YUCAIPA (AP) — A minimum-security inmate has returned after walking away from a Riverside County prison camp while serving a four-year burglary sentence.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said Monday that 49-year-old James Steven Murray turned himself in Sunday night at the Oak Glen Conservation Camp near Yucaipa.
He had last previously been seen in his dorm room Friday night during a routine security check at the camp about 70 miles east of Los Angeles.
Murray was scheduled to be released on Aug. 28, 2015, after serving his burglary sentence.
He has been taken to the California Institution for Men in Chino while the Riverside County District Attorney's considers filing new charges.
