Ex-Nev. Assemblyman Enters Plea Deal In San Bernardino County Case
VICTORVILLE (AP) — A former Nevada lawmaker who allegedly led California police on a high-speed chase on the day he was expelled from the state Assembly has entered into a plea deal in the felony case.
The Victorville Daily Press reports Steven Brooks pleaded no contest Friday to evading a peace officer and resisting arrest in the March 28, 2013 pursuit along Interstate 15.
Prosecutors agreed to drop charges alleging he threw an object out of his SUV, and attacking a police dog as part of the deal.
Brooks faces two years and eight months in prison when he is sentenced July 25.
The freeway confrontation came hours after he was ousted from the Nevada legislature by colleagues who cited a pattern of alleged bizarre behavior, and reportedly said they didn't feel safe around him.
