El Sereno Street Shooting Leaves Man Dead

EL SERENO (CBSLA) – A man in his 40s or 50s was killed in an early morning shooting Wednesday on an El Sereno street.

The shooting occurred at about 4:45 a.m. in the 3800 block of Drysdale Avenue, according to Los Angeles police. Witnesses reported hearing a series of gunshots.

"You just hear the gunshots, like one right after another, so many," one woman told CBS2.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

More than a dozen shell casings were found in the area, police said. One of the bullets shattered the front window of a business. Another pierced the windshield of a car. A broken cane was also spotted nearby.

There was no word on the identity of the victim or the circumstances of the killing. Police did not confirm if any suspects had been identified.

Homicide detectives were investigating.
