Authorities have identified an El Monte man as the victim of a deadly shooting that happened at a San Diego hotel on Monday.

It happened at around 8:30 p.m. outside of the Handlery Hotel, located in the 900 block of Hotel Circle North, according to a release from the San Diego Police Department.

Officers were called to the area after receiving reports of gunfire and arrived to find one man dead inside a hallway. He was identified as 19-year-old El Monte resident Damian Martinez.

They also found a second victim, only identified as a 23-year-old man, suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds outside of the hotel, the release said.

"Based on information received at the scene, officers determined the shooter got into a dark-colored truck," SDPD said. "Officers located the truck in the hotel parking lot a short time later."

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Northridge man Kevin Casey Larin was arrested without further incident. He was booked on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Investigators say that all three men were co-workers and were in the area for some type of work. They did not provide further information on the matter, nor did they disclose a motive.
