Ed Hardy, Von Dutch Designer Christian Audigier Dies At 57

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Funeral services were pending Friday for French fashion designer Christian Audigier, famed for his Ed Hardy and Von Dutch lines.

Audigier, who announced earlier this year he was suffering from cancer, died Thursday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at age 57.

"I just heard the news and I am truly devastated, Audigier's publicist Michele Elyzabeth told the website www.latfusa.com, which she publishes. "Christian was an incredibly brilliant man. He will be missed."

Audigier sold his Ed Hardy line, known for its flashy logos and rhinestone-enhanced designs, in 2011 for $62 million.

The native of Avignon, France, also worked on fashion lines such as Guess?, Levi's, American Outfitters and XOXO.

He is survived by his wife, daughter and three sons.
