Eagle Rock Neighborhood Evacuated After Possible Explosives Uncovered

EAGLE ROCK (CBSLA.com) An Eagle Rock neighborhood was evacuated Saturday after a homeowner uncovered what appeared to be eight sticks of dynamite.

Officials later determined the possible explosives were actually a movie prop.

A homeowner in the 2400 block of Hill Drive was cleaning out a garage when he made the discovery about 2:35 p.m., according to Officer Mike Lopez of the LAPD's Media Relations Section.

The sticks appeared to be about 25 years old, Lopez said.

Some nearby homes were evacuated but residents were able to return to their homes around 4:45 p.m. when the neighborhood got the all-clear.

No explanation was given as to how the props ended up in the garage.
