Overturned Dump Truck Prompts Closure Of Southbound 71 Freeway

POMONA (CBSLA.com) — An overturned dump truck on the southbound Chino Valley (71) Freeway in Pomona prompted a full closure of the freeway for most of the morning Friday.

The crash with a black sedan was first reported at 4:46 a.m. at Old Pomona Road, and all lanes were initially blocked by the collision. The truck was carrying asphalt and hot tar, which spilled out onto the roadway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

No injuries were reported.

CHP officials said all lanes at Mission Boulevard would have to be closed while authorities clean up the roadway. The road was cleared and reopened at 10:52 a.m., according to the CHP.
