DUI Suspect Reportedly Flees Hit-And-Run Crash Only To Plow Car Into A Home

EL SERENO (CBSLA.com) — A DUI suspect lost control of his vehicle late Friday and slammed into an El Sereno home, police report.

Moments before the crash, the suspect had been involved in a hit-and-run collision in Alhambra and was being followed by the driver of that vehicle, LAPD Sgt. S. Bailey said.

That driver "kept his distance" as the suspect continued to drive into El Sereno. When he reached a T-intersection with Allan Street the suspect didn't see the road ended and plowed ahead, Bailey said.

The vehicle plowed into the living room of a home.

There was at least one resident inside and they were not hurt. The home, however, has been yellow-tagged by the L.A. City Fire Department and deemed damaged but inhabitable.

The man behind the wheel was hospitalized with minor injuries and faces possible DUI charges. Police have not yet released his identity.
