Ducks Defenseman Lovejoy Out 6-8 Weeks With Broken Finger

ANAHEIM, Calif. (CBSLA.com/AP) — Anaheim Ducks defenseman Ben Lovejoy will be out six to eight weeks after breaking his finger in a fight.

The Ducks announced the extent of Lovejoy's injury Monday night.

Lovejoy hurt his right hand while punching Joe Pavelski in the Ducks' fight-filled 4-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks. The defeat snapped a seven-game winning streak for Anaheim, which opens a four-game road trip Tuesday in Chicago.

Lovejoy has been a dependable contributor on the Ducks' blue line since they acquired him from Pittsburgh in early 2013. He had 18 points in 78 games last season for Anaheim, and one assist in nine games this month.

The Ducks recalled defenseman Josh Manson from their AHL affiliate in Norfolk earlier Monday. He has never played in the NHL.

Sundays game features 165 combined minutes of penalties after several fights broke out between the Ducks and Sharks.
