Dubbed By Some As 'Most Depressing Starbucks In America,' Highland Park Coffee Shop Getting Facelift

HIGHLAND PARK (CBSLA.com) — Change is brewing at a local coffee shop that has been called "the most depressing Starbucks in America" by some.

The coffee chain is in the process of renovating the shop, located in the 6200 block of York Boulevard, and residents in the area are excited.

"I love to go to Starbucks. I get Starbucks cards and everything," said one resident while another said: "I'm excited. I live five minutes away."

The latter resident says she used to hate waiting to get her drink while in line on the patio.

"When you order, there is no way the line can go straight. The line is just two people standing there and then maybe like a curvature," she explained. "There was no inside. It's just an outside and there's a restroom-area."

LAist.com even photoshopped a sad Keanu Reeves on one of the photos of the patio-area to drive the point home.

"You pay a certain amount of money, you know, for the coffee and you want that whole Starbucks experience of sitting inside a café," she added.

The coffee shop has a drive-through and free WiFi.

There was no word yet from Starbucks Monday night.
