Drunk Driving Suspect, 24, Leads Police On Brief Chase In Irwindale

IRWINDALE (CBSLA.com)  —  A 24-year-old Whittier man led police on a brief chase Sunday morning.

The suspect was reportedly passed out in his car around 4:20 a.m. at the intersection of Live Oak Avenue and Arrow Highway, Irwindale Police Sgt. Rudy Gatto said.

After the suspect fled, he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and misdemeanor evading this morning following a brief mile-long chase.

The suspect -- who ran several street lights -- crashed into a street sign bringing the three-minute chase to an end.

The man, identified as Whittier resident Carlos Chamale, was not injured.

He was arrested and the dark-colored 2015 Ford Mustang he was driving was impounded, Gatto said.

Chamale was released Sunday morning after posting $5,000 bail, according to sheriff's online inmate records.
