Driver Stabbed 3 Times During Carjacking In Riverside

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com)  — Authorities said a man was stabbed early Saturday morning by a carjacker in Riverside.

The driver and his girlfriend picked up a man and woman from a 7-Eleven at the intersection of Magnolia and Jurupa Avenues around 2 a.m. Police said the driver knew the couple but they were not well acquainted.

When the driver stopped his 2014 Hyundai Sonata near the intersection of Hermosa Drive and Jefferson Street, the passengers got out of the car and threatened the driver and his girlfriend with knives.

The female passenger was able to flee on foot but the driver was stabbed three times, police said. The assailants fled with the vehicle, while the two victims walked to a nearby home to call for help.

The driver was in stable condition at a local hospital and the girlfriend was uninjured, police said.

The suspects are at large.

Police believe drugs might have played a role in the crime.
