Driver Of Suspected Stolen Vehicle Accused In NoHo Hit-And-Run

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A man was hospitalized in guarded condition Sunday morning after he was struck by a suspected hit-and-run driver, authorities said.

Sgt. Ernie Fischer of the LAPD's North Hollywood Station says the incident at Vineland Avenue and Lankershim Boulevard was reported at 1:27 a.m.

Fischer said the suspect vehicle fled the scene but was followed by another motorist who was able to record the license plate, which came back stolen.

That vehicle was described as a white, 2011 Toyota Corolla with California license plate, 6RTX921.

Authorities said the victim, described as a 35-year-old man, may have triggered the accident as he was wandering in the street allegedly under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The sergeant said most vehicles were swerving to avoid him.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Anyone with more information about this case was asked to call the LAPD's North Hollywood Division at (818) 623-4016. All tips can be made anonymously.
