Driver Killed In Wrong Way Crash On 101 Freeway

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — One driver was killed, another was hurt, when they crashed head-on Saturday on the Ventura Freeway in Studio City.

It happened about 4 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the freeway just west of Tujunga Avenue, near the junction of the 101 and 134 freeways.

The wrong-way driver was in a 1997 Honda, headed east in the fast lane of the westbound 101, according to the CHP.

The highway patrol said the driver who was killed was from Alhambra.

The other driver, a 27-year-old man, needed help from paramedics to get out of his vehicle, a 2015 Lexus.

He was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with minor injuries.

All westbound lanes were shut down for almost four hours.
