Driver Killed In Wrightwood Crash After Car Plunges 100 Feet Down Embankment

WRIGHTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A driver was declared dead in Wrightwood Saturday morning after their vehicle plunged 100 feet down an embankment.

The accident was reported just after 9:20 a.m.

The crash occurred about one-and-0ne-half miles west of Wrightwood, and east of Mt. High East, along Highway 2, said the San Bernardino County Fire Department.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Volunteer team aided in the recovery effort as well as extrication of the victim due to rugged terrain.

The San Bernardino County Fire Department has a mutual aid response plan with the Los Angeles County Fire Department to assist with all fires, rescues and medical crises near Wrightwood.

The accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
