Driver Killed In Fiery Hawthorne Crash

HAWTHORNE (CBSLA.com) — A motorist was killed Wednesday when a vehicle crashed and caught fire in Hawthorne, police said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred about 10 a.m. on Hawthorne Boulevard near Rosecrans Avenue, according to Hawthorne police Sgt. Scott Nichols.

The driver, whose gender and age were not immediately known, is believed to have been alone in the vehicle, Nichols said.

Closures were expected along Hawthorne Boulevard between Rosecrans and El Segundo Boulevard this afternoon while crash investigators were on the scene.
