Driver, 19, Killed After Striking Signal Pole In Irvine

IRVINE (CBSLA.com) — Detectives investigated the circumstances surrounding a fatal traffic collision that occurred Sunday morning in Irvine.

According to the Irvine Police Department, officers were sent to the intersection of Orchard Hills and Wolf Trail just before 7:00 a.m. for report of the crash.

Once on scene, officers pronounced the driver of an Infinity Q45 dead on arrival.

The Orange County Coroner's Office will be conducting an investigation into the cause of the man's death.

The coroner has identified the deceased as 19-year-old Michael Kwame Kwabi of Irvine.

Kwabi was the vehicle's lone occupant.

A portion of Orchard Hills will remain closed during the investigation, authorities reported.
