EXPOSITION PARK (CBSLA.com) — Cellphone video captured the terrifying moments after a car collided with a Metro bus in Exposition Park in a crash that left seven injured.

The fiery crash in the 1600 block of West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard unfolded Monday night and resulted in one car erupting into flames, which spread to a portion of the bus.

"We just see this car on fire, and we're like, 'Ah, man. Somebody's about to burn," said Salvador Lopez Jr.

No passengers were on board the bus but witnesses say three or four people were in the burning car.

They explain that good Samaritans rushed in to help, including Carlos Coleman, who used an officer's knife to help cut one of the victims out of the car.

"His legs burned," said Coleman. "It burned his legs from the fire."

Video showed one of the people from the vehicle seriously hurt. In total, firefighters say seven people were taken to the hospital, two of whom were in critical condition.

Some witnesses say they saw the car speed through the intersection.

"I saw two cars racing," said Jason Wells, a witness. "The other one went by the bus and hit into a couple of cars."

Police have not yet said whether racing was involved.
