Dozens Hurt In Stage Collapse At Catholic School In O.C.

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — Dozens of girls have been injured after a stage partially collapsed at a Catholic high school in Orange County.

The incident happened Saturday evening about 11 p.m. during the 44th annual Red & Gold finale at Servite High School's theater in West La Palma Avenue.

Cell phone video posted on YouTube captured the scene as dozens of girls fell to the ground after the stage gave way.

During the partial stage collapse, there were nearly 250 girls from Rosary High School dancing and singing. Following the incident, dozens of ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

Anaheim Police Lt. Tim Schmidt tells KNX 1070 that at least 25 young girls were transported to area hospitals. Their injuries varied from minor to moderate.

An internal investigation is underway.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the students and their families," both schools said in a joint statement.
