Crews Extinguish Industrial Fire In Downtown LA; Firefighter Hurt

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Crews Tuesday extinguished a structure fire that erupted at an industrial building in downtown Los Angeles.

The fire broke out shortly before 8 a.m. in a one-story building located in the 1300 block of Newton Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Upon their arrival, firefighters located flames burning through the roof of the building.

Around 128 firefighters were able to contain the blaze within an hour, authorities said.

Officials said a firefighter fell from an unknown height during the blaze. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury. An update on his condition was not immediately available.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
