21-Year-Old Man Stabbed To Death Near Downtown LA Apartment

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) -- A 21-year-old man was stabbed to death near a downtown Los Angeles apartment building on Friday night.

The high-rise residence, Olive DTLA, is located just two blocks from the Staples Center, and neighbors who live in the complex and nearby say they're shocked about what happened.

Authorities continued to search for a suspect throughout Saturday, but have not released a description yet.

According to police, a man was in an alleyway in the 1200 block of South Grand Avenue near Pico Boulevard talking to a friend. Shortly after, a car then drove up to the pair, someone got out of the vehicle and stabbed the man multiple times, investigators said.

When paramedics reached to the scene, the man had already died of his injuries.

There were initial reports on Saturday that the incident may have involved someone getting run over by a vehicle as well, but police have not confirmed those details to CBS2/KCAL9.

No additional information about the victim was disclosed, but police said he lived in Los Angeles.
