Downtown LA High School Teacher's Assistant Accused Of Sexually Battering Female Students

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A teacher's assistant at Miguel Contreras Learning Complex, a high school in downtown L.A., has been arrested on suspicion of sexual battery, and authorities are urging other possible victims to contact police.

Pil Mendez, 34, was taken into custody on Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. He was released on $50,000 bail, according to the sheriff's department.

"In November 2015, a female student reported that Mendez inappropriately touched her and made sexual comments to her on multiple occasions," a police statement said.

Police say the investigation revealed more student disclosed that Mendez had also inappropriately touched them and made inappropriate sexual comments to them.
