'Don't Want It, Do It' Says 99-Year-Old College Graduate

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Doreetha Daniels, a Los Angeles County resident, has earned her associate of arts degree at the age of 99.

Daniels walked with the class of 2015 at the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita and received her diploma Friday after six years and countless hours of hard work.

Daniels began college in her late-90s and says the reason isn't that profound: It's simply because she had nothing else to do.

"I was tired of my hobbies," she said. "I've been through ceramics. Stain glass. Painting. Jewelry making."

Daniels said she planned to celebrate her accomplishment with her family and friends and hang her diploma on the wall knowing that all her hard work has paid off.

"I did it. I did it," said Daniels, who will turn 100 next April.
