Dog Fatally Wounded In East Hollywood Officer-Involved Shooting

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —  Authorities said a dog was shot and killed by police in East Hollywood Friday morning.

Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call about 11:10 a.m. in the 1500 block of N. Serrano Avenue.

When officers arrived on scene, they were allegedly told the family dog was secure, said Nuria Vanegas with the LAPD's Media Relations Section.

She said, however, that the Pit Bull/Labrador mix got loose and charged officers, prompting at least one of them to open fire.

No officers were hurt.

A suspect was arrested at the scene on suspicion of making criminal threats, according to the LAPD.
