Dodgers To Participate In Turkey Giveaway & Health Fair At Compton Youth Academy

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation will join community leaders at Progress California's 11th annual Turkey Giveaway and Health Fair at the MLB Urban Youth Academy in Compton on Tuesday, November 24th.

The Foundation will join Senator Isadore Hall III and several other Los Angeles politicians at the event, where they will donate over 10,000 free holiday turkeys to underserved families in Compton and it's surrounding areas.

The turkeys will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis at the MLB Youth Academy in Compton, which is located on at 901 E. Artesia Blvd.

Representatives will be on hand to provide thousands of free blood pressure and diabetes tests, as well as to share information on insurance enrollment.

Participants will also receive information on healthy eating during the holidays to further raise awareness and reduce incidents of obesity.

The event will include family-friendly activities including the Dodger pitching inflatable, Dodger giveaways and photos with the Dodger character.

SportsNet LA broadcasters John Hartung and Alanna Rizzo will be in attendance to serve families. LADF partner Read Conmigo will be on hand to give away bilingual books to all children.
