Dodgers Sign Left-Handed Pitcher Brett Anderson To 1-Year Contract
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed free-agent left-handed pitcher Brett Anderson, the team announced Wednesday.
The 26-year-old, who was signed to a one-year contract, has posted a 1.29 WHIP and a 2.90 strikeout-to-walk ratio with 386 strikeouts and only 133 walks.
He has gone 27-32 with three saves and a 3.73 ERA in 92 games, including 81 starts, in the six major league seasons he played with the Oakland A's from 2009-2013 and the Colorado Rockies in 2014.
He has 56.2 career ground-ball percentage and allowed an average of only 0.75 home runs per 9.0 innings, giving up only 41 home runs in 494.0 career innings.
Anderson, who was limited to just eight starts with the Rockies in 2014 due to a broken left index finger, was originally selected by Arizona in the second round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.
The Dodgers designated infielder Erisbel Arruebarrena for assignment to make room for Anderson on the 40-man roster.
