Dodgers' Dee Gordon To Attend Reopening Of T-Ball Field Where Thieves Stole Artificial Turf

TUJUNGA (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Dee Gordon attended the reopening Wednesday of a t-ball field that was closed after turf was stolen.

Who better to represent the Boys in Blue -- but the league's leader in stolen bases.

In November, thieves took the entire artificial turf from the field at 11950 Big Tujunga Canyon Road where 4 to 6-year-old athletes play for the Tujunga Little League.

The AstroTurf, which was valued at $5,000, had been donated to the league and was being used to create a warm-up field specifically for the league's smallest players.

The turf was replaced and the field was reopened Wednesday at 3 p.m. Los Angeles City Councilmember Felipe Fuentes was also  in attendance.

During the event, Gordon got a phone call telling him that he and fellow Dodger Dan Haren had just been traded to the Florida Marlins in a 6-player swap.
