Distraught Family Wants Killers Brought To Justice For Puzzling April Murder

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — The family of a Riverside man killed two months ago is still in search of answers and the man's killer.

"I think of him every day," Robert Puppo says about his slain son, Miguel Angel Puppo, 36.

The victim was walking to a friend's home April 25 when, police say, he was attacked on Cypress Avenue near Jones Street in Riverside.

"I felt proud of him because he was behaving very well, you know? He was walking the right path," said his father.

KCAL9's Jeff Nguyen spoke to Puppo's family Thursday. They still can't understand why someone wanted to hurt their son and brother.

Police say two men rolled up in a car then jumped Puppo, beating and stabbing him.

They left him to die in the middle of the street. Police are yet to say what the possible motive was.

Puppo's family says he called a friend for help but that person didn't answer.

He was able to call 911 but died at the hospital about an hour later.

"It's too much violence how it happened," said the victim's brother, Robert Puppo.

The victim's brother showed Nguyen a new tattoo to honor the years he lived.

Puppo's mother wept openly Thursday as she visited the spot where he son was attacked.

His family says the murder happened just before 4 a.m. and that Puppo was simply walking to a co-worker's home to get a ride to work.

"I want to say to the public help us to clear this, you know? This murder. The only thing is justice, you know? I know this is not going to give my son back but I want justice," said Robert Puppo.

The Riverside Police Department is asking anyone with information about this murder to give them a call.
