Detectives Suspect Road Rage In El Monte Car-To-Car Killing

EL MONTE (CBSLA.com/AP) — Los Angeles County authorities are searching for suspects in a fatal car-to-car shooting over the weekend that investigators believe stemmed from road rage.

Deputy Lisa Jansen says the victim, a passenger in a truck, was involved in an argument with occupants of another vehicle at Cogswell Road and Klingerman Street in El Monte Saturday at about 7 p.m.

Someone in the suspect vehicle opened fire, striking the man in the chest.

Coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said Monday that 23-year-old Victor Garcia died at a hospital. Winter didn't know Garcia's home town.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

The suspect's vehicle, occupied by at least two men, was described as a dark SUV, possibly a Dodge.

Anyone with information about the shooting can call sheriff's homicide detectives at (323)890-5500.
