Detectives Recover $300K Of High-End Meat At Boyle Heights Cold-Storage Facility

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles sheriff's detectives have recovered $300,000 worth of high-end meat at a cold-storage facility in Boyle Heights.

The Carson Sheriff's Station opened an investigation Dec. 2, when Lamb Cooperative Inc. reported a stolen shipment of high-end beef steak, leg of lamb, rack of lamb and other expensive meat, according to a department spokesperson.

On Dec. 4, detectives executed a search warrant at a cold-storage facility in the 2000 block of Imperial Street, where they found 1,531 cases of the stolen meat.

The wholesale value of the meat shipment was about $300,000, amounting to more than 90 percent of what was reported stolen.

Detectives say they have located two suspects.

The investigation is ongoing.
