Detectives Investigating Possible Neglect In Death Of 12-Year-Old Palmdale Boy

PALMDALE (CBSLA.com) — Sheriff's homicide detectives Monday were investigating the death of a 12-year-old boy in Palmdale.

The investigation was launched late Sunday night at a home in 1100 block of W. Avenue N-8 in Palmdale, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

Animal control agents were also at the home removing several large dogs from the property.

Detectives were called to Palmdale Regional Medical Center around 9:30 p.m. after the child's parents brought the boy in for medical treatment.

A doctor told investigators that the boy was near death when he arrived and that his parents stories were conflicting.

Authorities said the cause of death appears to be an asthma attack, but there were questions about possible neglect.

An official cause of death has yet to be determined by the county coroner.
