Detectives Investigate Apparent Murder-Suicide In Downey

DOWNEY (CBSLA.com) — Detectives investigated the circumstances surrounding the deaths of a man, woman and toddler Thursday found inside an apartment in Downey.

According to the Downey Police Department, officers were sent around 8 p.m. Wednesday to a home located near Old River School Road and Neo Street to assist with a death investigation.

Upon their arrival, authorities located the bodies of an adult woman and a 1-year-old male toddler inside a bathtub. The body of an adult man was located inside a bedroom of the residence.

The identities of the victims are being withheld pending family notification.

According to police, the man and woman had been dating for four years and were living together at the apartment.

A preliminary investigation revealed family members became concerned after they were unable to contact the couple for two days.

Relatives contacted the victims' landlord who let them into the apartment. Authorities were then called to the scene after the bodies were discovered.

Detectives said no weapons have been found inside the apartment. The incident is being investigated as an apparent murder-suicide.

Family members explained to authorities that the man recently made threats to his girlfriend.

The investigation is ongoing.
