Officials Continue To Search For Armed Robbery Suspect Who Shot Long Beach Store Owner

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Detectives Tuesday will hand out fliers to try and generate new leads about an armed robbery suspect who critically wounded a 53-year-old liquor store owner.

Officials will be going door-to-door in the neighborhood near the northwest corner of 7th Street and Orange Avenue from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Felix Avela was shot in the 1100 block of East 7th Street around 8 p.m. on March 24, according to police. He was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

The suspect, who fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, was described as a man wearing dark clothing and a hooded sweatshirt that obscured his face.
