'The Desert Trip' Music Festival To Kick Off This Fall In Indio

INDIO (CBSLA.com) — This may be your father or grandfather's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

The Desert Trip, featuring legendary artists including The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and Paul McCartney, will kick off this fall, promoters announced Tuesday.

The three-night music festival will headline six Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees from October 7-9 at the Empire Polo Field in Indio.

The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan will kick off the festival, followed by Paul McCartney and Neil Young. Promise of the Real, Roger Waters and The Who will close out the weekend. There will be no opening acts.

Gary Bryan, who has been a radio disc jockey on K-Earth 101 in Los Angeles for more than 30 years, said this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

"It's almost like the end of an era because when will you ever get these people together again in one place over a three-day period?" he asked.

The festival, which has been getting several nicknames, will be brought to you by Goldenvoice and AEG Live - the producers of the Coachella Music & Arts Festival and the country music festival Stagecoach.

"People have been making fun of this whole thing. People call it Oldchella, Geezer Palooza," Bryan joked. "Someone called it the dead-pool concert, like who's going to make it through October. I mean come on. These guys have been going for a long time. This is history. This is rock and roll history," Bryan added.

Ticket prices are as follows:

— Three Day Passes: general admission $399; reserved floor $699, $999, $1,599; reserved grandstand $999, $1,599; standing pit $1,599.

Single Day Passes: general admission $199
