Deputy L.A. City Attorney Arrested On Suspicion Of Possessing, Distributing Child Porn

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a deputy Los Angeles city attorney has been arrested on suspicion of possessing and distributing child pornography.

Christopher Richard Garcia was arrested on Thursday at his home in San Pedro and was subsequently charged, Los Angeles police confirmed to CBSLA.

Citing jail records, the Los Angeles Times reports that Garcia had posted bail, which had been set at $40,000.

"When our office became aware of these allegations ten months ago, Mr. Garcia was immediately placed on administrative leave, where he remains today. We cannot comment further on this ongoing criminal matter," said Rob Wilcox, a spokesperson for the City Attorney's office said in a statement online.

Garcia, 57, was admitted to practice law in the state of California in 1986. According to the California State Bar website, he has no public records of discipline.

No further information was immediately available.
