Deputy-Involved Shooting Reported In Hawaiian Gardens

HAWAIIAN GARDENS (CBSLA.com)   —  Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Detectives are investigating a deputy-involved shooting in Hawaiian Gardens, authorities said Sunday.

The shooting took place in the 12200 block of 216th Street, at Belshire, around 9:40 p.m.

The suspect was wounded. His condition is unknown.

No deputies were injured as a result of the shooting.

Officials said there were no additional suspects.

Gordon Spencer, reporting in Sky9, said there was a "massive police response" but very little details about what led to the shooting.

As is standard procedure, whenever an officer or deputy-involved shooting occurs in LA County, several agencies launch investigations including the Office of the Los Angeles County District Attorney. Sheriff's Homicide and Internal Affairs Bureaus. The Office of the Inspector General is also present.

Once the investigations are concluded, the incident is also reviewed by the Sheriff's Executive Force Review Committee.
