Person Wounded In Compton Shooting Involving Sheriff's Deputy

COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is investigating a deputy-involved shooting at a convenience store at the corner of Compton Boulevard and Willowbrook Avenue.

Deputy Amber Smith said the shooting took place at 4:25 p.m. Wednesday. According to the Sheriff's Department, a person who reportedly had a gun was shot at the store, which also houses a McDonald's.

CBS2's Stu Mundel said deputies were uninjured, but the person who was shot was taken to a hospital.

Smith said she was not aware of the injured person's condition, nor the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Compton Boulevard was closed in the area, Mundel reported.
