Suspect Killed In Deputy-Involved Shooting In Santa Clarita

SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA) -- A man was struck and killed in a deputy-involved shooting at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station parking lot on Sunday. No deputies were injured.

The incident happened at about 2:29 p.m in a restricted part of the station's property, according to authorities.

Authorities said an officer was leaving in his patrol car when a man appeared on foot with a gun in his hand. They say the suspect refused orders to drop the weapon and kept moving closer towards the officers. A deputy then opened fire and shot the suspect, who was later pronounced dead. Deputies have not yet released the man's identity.
