Man Accused Of Abduction, Rape Arrested After Hours-Long Search

ARCADIA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities said a man accused of dragging a woman to his car in Arcadia and raping her repeatedly has been arrested.

The unidentified 25-year-old female victim was abducted about 3 a.m. Wednesday while walking on Longden Avenue at Peck Road, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a statement.

"The suspect grabbed and carried the victim into his car," the statement said. "He drove the victim to his home where he continuously sexually assaulted her."

Deputies said the victim managed to alert a neighbor, who called authorities.

When law enforcement arrived about 2 p.m., the suspect had escaped through a window, the statement said. The woman was taken to the hospital.

After several hours of searching, the suspect was taken into custody about 9:15 p.m. He was identified by deputies as 29-year-old Philippe Lutete.

The relationship between the woman and the suspect was not immediately known.

Authorities said Lutete had a previous similar arrest and was out on bond.

No further information was immediately available.
