Deputies: Resident Wakes To Find Burglary Suspect Sleeping In Her Living Room

YUCCA VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a woman in Yucca Valley awoke Thursday to an expected sight: a burglary suspect sleeping on her couch.

Deputies responded to the home in the 58600 block of Barron Drive just before 3:30 a.m. following a "suspicious circumstances" call.

When they arrived, they learned that the resident had discovered that her home had been ransacked when she woke up.

She then also found an unknown female sleeping in her living room.

Detectives arrived on scene, and detained the woman on the couch. She was identified by authorities as Kimberly Johnson, 39, of Joshua Tree.

Authorities said the victim and Johnson were not acquainted.

"Several items belonging to the victim were located inside a pillow case and staged by the front door," deputies said in a news release issued by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department.

Johnson was subsequently arrested and booked on suspicion of residential burglary. Her bail was set at $25,000.
